Takamori, Nagano

The four stations that mark Takamori-cho in Nagano's Shimoina district are spaced at the kind of intervals that suggest a town built for its own movement, not for passing through. Between them, the land settles into the quiet rhythms of a rural municipality in the southern Alps foothills — fields, side roads, the occasional cluster of rooftops.
